THE AIRES MISSION

is to focus on educating tomorrow's AI leaders in ethical AI principles to ensure AI is created ethically and responsibly.

As technology advances at an exponential rate, it is imperative that we begin thinking about how AI will interact with and impact society at different facets of daily life, with the focus on ethical implication and its implementation within AI systems.

Notably, the development and involvement in AI ethics by students and professionals has been relatively nascent. The foresight of how important it is to regulate AI through the lens of ethical discussion and implementation is of paramount significance within the setting of the rapid development of AI and how it has already permeated of our daily lives.

As such, the AI Robotics Ethics Society was founded in 2018 at UCLA by Aaron Hui to promote the awareness and importance of ethical implementation and regulation of AI. AIRES is now a nonprofit organization with chapters at USC, Caltech, Stanford, Cornell, and Brown.

AIRES achieves its mission through the following initiatives:

1. The AI Ethics Journal bridges the gap between the scientific and humanistic disciplines by publishing innovative research on ethical artificial intelligence (AI).

ISSN 2690-1625 (Online); ISSN 2690-1633 (Print)

2. Our AIRES Research Program, led by AIRES at PUCRS investigates ethical AI in the current global landscape.

3. AIRES Facilitators within AIRES Outreach programs educate local communities at the high school and collegiate levels on the latest breakthroughs and achievements in the field of AI and Robotics ethics.

4. AIRES' Beyond the Turing Test podcast hosted by AIRES at UCLA discusses the ethics of artificial intelligence and educates the audience on societal issues that stem from the impact that artificial intelligence (AI) has or will have on humanity.
